Mrs. Snow has been leaving on Fridays so I was afraid that she would not be there today. I knew she was there when I heard the classical music playing. I saw my first tutee, Matt. Just a reminder that Matt is the student who wants to go into the Marines. This is the first time I have seen him since February. He says that he only comes to class on certain days, but he does not specify how these days on chosen. As the year unwinds, I do not hear many of the students asking for unlocks anymore, yet I don’t believe that all of them are done with their classes. Celia is enthusiastic about graduating and “walking cross the stage.” Her baby seems to be her sole motivation for finishing school. George is not as motivated and all of his peers are concerned, especially Celia. She asks him “how much work do you have left” and reminds him that they only have thirty days until graduation. He does not reciprocate the sentiment, so she becomes angry and says, “that’s okay, I don’t want to see you when I walk across the stage anyway.” I can tell that she is hurt so I know that she doesn’t mean what she is saying. Maybe her words will get through to George so that both of them can walk across the stage together.
